Goddess Saraswati is an important deity among the Tridevi of Hindu Gods. She blesses her devotees with the power of knowledge, intelligence, wisdom and learning. She is believed to be the daughter of Lord Shiva & Maa Durga. Saraswati, also named Vagdevi or Shatarupa, is known to be the mother of all Vedas. SHARADA PEETH (JAMMU & KASHMIR): 

Sharada Peeth or Saraswati Devi Shaktipeeth is one of the ancient and most famous temples dedicated to the goddess of learning, Saraswati. According to Hindu Mythology, it is believed to be built about 5000 years ago under the Kushan Empire or during Lalitaditya times and was religiously established by Adi Shankaracharya during 509-477 BCE. It is located at Sharada (Jammu & Kashmir), now in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and is one of the eighteen Maha Shakti Peethas. It is believed that Goddess Satis right hand fell here after her corpse was cut into 51 pieces by Lord Vishnu. In Northern India, the Sharada script was developed and popularised through this temple, nicknamed Kashmir as Sharada Desh.  


SHRINGERI SHARADAMBA TEMPLE (KARNATAKA): 

Sri Sharadamba Temple is another famous Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Saraswati, situated in Sringeri in Karnataka. This temple, made in reverence to Goddess Saraswati (an incarnation of Goddess Parvati) in the 8th Century, was founded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. As per Legends, Lord Shiva gifted a crystal Chandramouleeshwara Linga to Sri Adi Shankaracharya, which is still present and is worshipped every Friday. People have a firm faith that by worshipping Goddess Sringeri, one can receive Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu along with Parvati, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. This temple had a sandalwood Saraswati murti installed by Adi Shankaracharya, replaced by a seated gold statue by the Vijayanagara rulers in the 14th Century.  


SARASWATI TEMPLE, PUSHKAR (RAJASTHAN): 

Saraswati Temple, situated at Pushkar in Rajasthan, is one of the most popular temples dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the wife of Lord Brahma. It houses a Saraswati idol, which is visited by many devotees seeking her blessings for excelling in all fields of education, learning, fruitfulness and refinement. The temple is a masterpiece of workmanship and Hindu pattern of architecture.  


GNANA SARASWATI TEMPLE, BASAR (TELANGANA): 

Gnana Saraswati Temple is one of the most sacred and famous Hindu temples dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. It was built by a Karnataka King Bijialudu on the banks of River Godavari River at Basar in Telangana. The Chieftain of Nanded restored this temple which Muslim invaders destroyed during the 17th Century. People bring their children to this temple for the learning ceremony called ‘Akshara Abyasam’.  


PANACHIKKADU DAKSHINA MOOKAMBIKA SARASWATI TEMPLE (KERALA): 

The Panachikkadu Temple or Dakshana Mookambika Temple is one of the ancient temples dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. It is located at Panachikkad in Kottayam in Kerala, the southern region of the Indian Peninsula. According to the legends, it was built by Thampuran Ruler between 1751 to 1805 near his palace so that despite his old age and ill health, he could visit her daily. This prominent temple in Kerala also houses the idols of Lord Vishnu as the main deity who is worshipped before Goddess Saraswati along with Ganapati, Shiva, Sasthavu, Yakshi, Hanuman and Veerabhadram. The Sanctorum with the Lord Goddess idol is in the midst of a lotus pool. Ten days annual festival is celebrated during Navratri. 


KOOTHANUR SARASWATI TEMPLE (TAMIL NADU): 

Koothanur Maha Saraswathi Temple is another prominent Hindu temple of the south dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. It is situated in the town of Koothanur in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu. According to Indian History, during the 12th Century CE, this temple was donated by King Rajaraja Chola to a renowned poet of the times, Ottakoothar, for facilitating him to compose in peace. The festival of Vijayadashami is celebrated with great zeal and fervour.  


VIDYA SARASWATI TEMPLE, WARGAL: 

Sri Vidya Saraswati Temple, located in the Medak district of Telangana, is one of the most famous and contemporary Hindu temples dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Also known as Wargal Saraswati Temple, this temple was built by a Vastu expert and an extreme devotee of Goddess Saraswati, Yayavaram Chandrashekhara Sharma. The construction of this temple started in 1989, and in 1992, the same was completed with the installation of the Saraswati statue with some other deities of Wargal. Kanchi Shanmer Mutt is now maintaining this temple.  


KALESWARAM MAHA SARASWATI TEMPLE, TELANGANA: 

Shree Maha Saraswathi Devi temple is another famous temple of the south, dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. It is located in Kaleshwaram at Karimnagar, Telangana, besides Sri Kaleshwara Muktheshwara Swami temple. Due to River Godavari meeting its tributary River Pranahita and Antarvahine, this place is known as ‘Dakshina Triveni Sangam’ or Southern India Kashi. This site also houses a temple of Lord Shiva. The place is visited by a large number of devotees every year.   


KOLANU BHARATHI TEMPLE, KURNOOL (ANDHRA PRADESH): 

Kolanu Bharathi Temple is now the only temple in Andhra Pradesh dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. This temple is situated 20 Kms from Atmakuri in the hills of Nallamala forest in Kothapalli village, Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh). It is believed to be the abode place of Sri Bharathi. A small stream forms a water body near this temple. Hence, the temple has been named Kollam Bharathi. Besides Goddess Saraswati, it also houses seven temples of Lord Shiva and a Kaalbharva.  


SHRI SARASWATI KSHETRAMU, MEDAK (TELANGANA): 

This is yet another famous Hindu Temple of Goddess Saraswathi. It is located in Andhra Pradesh. It was built from 1980 to 1990 by Sri Astakala Narasimha Rama Sharma; it is the only temple with Standing Saraswati with veena in her hands.
