7 Life-changing Lessons to Learn From Lord Krishna

Lord Krishna, The Eight Avatar of Lord Vishnu, is one of the most revered deities among Hindu Gods. He is known for imparting supreme knowledge of Dharma & Karma to the world. He is a well-known philosopher, guide, friend and leader, who has enlightened the world with his teachings. His skilful & practical advice to Arjun during Mahabharata and his teachings are compiled in Bhagavad Gita, which is still followed today.

His teachings were based on truth & practical aspects, which not only followed the religion but also favoured the righteous. His style, preaching's, and farsightedness make him an exemplary icon & greatest Guru, who could convert the circumstances in achieving the desired results. Here are seven such important life-changing lessons to be learnt from Lord Krishna are detailed here below :

Lord Krishna

Performing of our duty diligently:

Lord Krishna, though being a powerful God, never ceased from doing his duties. Even being the Lord of the Universe, he lived a simple human life, faced all difficulties of life and always performed his duties diligently. During the battle in Kurukshetra, Arjun felt hesitant in killing his relatives who were in front of him as enemies. Though Lord Krishna could have killed the enemies himself, he very patiently convinced Arjun to do his part of Karma, fight the enemies, and not fear the war's outcome. Thus, Lord Krishna spelt out the message that you have to perform your duties without being perturbed by its results, and the same shall bring you out of the blues.

There is always a cause or reason:

Lord Krishna, in Bhagavad Gita, has stipulated that we are all God's children and whatever happens in life is for a cause. Though there can be darker days in one's life, there are also shiny days stored for us. God is Supreme power, and he is who is responsible for all the doings. Hence nothing wrong can happen to us. So, we should not sit over the wrongdoings in our lives and rather move forward towards the happiness that is likely to come soon.

Mindfulness:

Lord Krishna is a God who knew what was likely to happen in the future. But he preferred to live in the present moment, enjoy the same, and leave behind all the worries. Mindfulness is about staying aware of the present and enjoying the present moments. It not only improves one's mental well being but also enhances the standard of one's life. Though one gets perturbed by the challenging circumstances coming in life, staying mindful makes life easier. So, one should always meditate in front of brass Lord Krishna murti to attain these benefits.

Control your anger:

Even while being in an unpleasant situation in his life, Lord Krishna remained calm and never let his anger outburst. He opined that anger is the worst enemy of a person and the main reason for failures in one's life. He believed that anger leads to wrong decisions in life. One's intellectual powers get weakened on getting angry. He thus taught me to be very calm and composed in whatever situation one is in. So, if you are someone having anger issues, praying in front of the Krishna statue shall help calm your mind & make you a better person.

Sacrifice:

Lord Krishna has justified that one has to sacrifice one thing to get the other. During the Mahabharata war, Karan was inclined to use Inderastra to kill Arjun and win the war. Hence, to save Arjun from Indrastra, Lord Krishna sent Bheem's son Ghatotkach in the war. Ghatotkach proved deadly to the enemies, and hence Karan used his Indrastra to kill him. Hence, by sacrificing Ghatotkach, Arjun was saved from Indrastra, who then won the battle for the Pandavas. Thus, one has to sacrifice many things to achieve success, be it comfort, pride, ego, time, money etc.

Humbleness:

Humbleness was the key to Lord Krishna's character. Even though Lord Krishna was king of Dwarka and a supreme God, he showed humility and respect to his elders, including his parents, gurus, and other citizens. His humbleness is also seen when Lord Krishna donned the role of a charioteer to Arjuna during the Mahabharata war. He taught us to remain humble in life, always help others and bring happiness to others' lives. Moreover, humbleness is taught when practised daily. So, start by praying in front of the Krishna idol for 5 minutes daily to experience astounding benefits.

Friendship:

Lord Krishna taught us to be good friends to others. This life is full of happiness when surrounded by good friends who serve you as your mentor, guide and philosopher. During ancient times, Lord Krishna had a school friend Sudama, who was a poor Brahmin. Once, Sudama decided to take the help of Lord Krishna to come out of his poor financial position, for which he reached his palace. Lord Krishna paid great respect to him, and Sudama felt shy in asking for assistance from him. But as a good friend, Lord Krishna understood Sudama's problem, and without telling him, he provided a good house, beautiful clothes, jewellery, money etc., to his family. Such was their true friendship. Therefore, we should make friends and have good friends around us.

Thus, Lord Krishna taught us to never give up our efforts, always serve others unconditionally to the best of our capacity, always remain humble and respectful, keep smiling, follow your dharma and be a good friend to others.
