5 Unique Things That Make Lord Vishnu Worship Unique
Lord Vishnu is one of the essential Hindu deities among the supreme Trinity. He is commonly known as Narayana – the Protector of the universe. He was born as 12th Aditya to Kashyap and Aditi in the form of a Dwarf. Lord Vishnu has a large number of devotees who follow Vaishnavism. It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in the Vaikunth river on a bed made of thousand serpents. He has been portrayed as having four hands that hold Sanhka, gada, lotus flower and chakra.
According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Vishnu is the saviour of the universe, and he has been visiting the world in many avatars whenever the universe is in trouble. It is believed that he has emerged in nine avatars to date, and one of them is still to come. Five unique things that make his worship unique are given here below :
1. WORSHIPING VISHNU IN ANY FORM:
Lord Vishnu is one of the important Hindu deities who protect the Earth and preserves life on it. He is believed to bring happiness, prosperity and good health to one's life. Since he had emerged in nine avatars, his devotees can worship him in his original form or in any of his avatars they like. Be it Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, Lord Narasimha etc. But in every form, it is that one is worshipping Lord Vishnu only.
Hence, in Vishnu pooja, one has the discretion of selecting his God to worship. Mostly people choose a brass vishnu statue before proceeding with the holy Pooja. As per Hindu Mythology, Lord Vishnu's devotees remain protected by him and are self-contented and happy.
2. MOKSHA FROM REBIRTH:
Lord Vishnu's most famous avatar was that of Lord Krishna. Every form of Lord Vishnu had different ways of worshipping and its achievements. Lord Vishnu was a God himself, while all others are called Devtas. It is believed that the devotees of the devatas are sent to the planets of their devatas. But in Lord Krishna's case, his worshippers go to his planet and do not return to the material world. Hence they are saved from the cycle of birth and rebirths and deaths.
3. FULFILLMENT OF DESIRES:
In the present times, people are followed by people not just for paying respect to the Almighty but also for fulfilling their material needs and desires. Some pray to God for a period, and if their desires are not met, they stop the same. People often pray many devatas at one time, hoping that they shall be granted happiness, prosperity, good health, material fulfilment by different devtas. However, it is believed that Devtas indeed fulfil their devotee's wishes according to their pooja & faith in them. But in the case of Lord Vishnu, it is very different. Though Lord Vishnu is believed to give good health, prosperity, special powers etc., to its devotees, in many cases, he denies the same too.
Lord Vishnu deeply sees the effect of the wish being fulfilled, i.e. if it is beneficial for him and the world, he shall bestow the same. But in case, in the long run, if he finds that these things can harm the world, he shall disallow the same. Thus he uses his discretion for the same, but at the same time ensures safety and happiness to his followers. Thus keep a vishnu murti in your altar & pray for happiness, prosperity rather than material possessions.
4. GOD'S WELFARE:
Lord Vishnu's worshippers do not pray to him for their wishes. Rather, they pray to him and wish that Lord Vishnu shall always remain pleased and happy with the goddess of fortune on his side. Their bhakti is to keep Lord Vishnu happy. It is one of the main differences between the devotees of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Whenever Vishnu asks for something from Shiva, he always does the same with happiness. It remains the same to the devotees of Lord Shiva also. If they worship Lord Shiva for their material gains or special powers, he accepts their wishes very soon and fulfils their desires quickly.
5. ASSOCIATING IN DIFFERENT MOODS:
All devotees who worship Lord Vishnu are liberated and do not wish for their personal or material gains. Their welfare lies with the Supreme God, who takes care of his devotees. The devotees associate themselves with Lord Vishnu and their avatars in different ways. Hanuman prayed to Lord Rama and served as a dedicated servant to him. Kakabhushundi dedicated his life to glorifying tales of Rama's life. Lord Shiva delivered special, meaningful and wonderful discourses to his dedicated wife, Parvati. Radharani associates herself with Lord Krishna as his lover. Yashoda associates Lord Krishna as a caring and loving mother, thinking that Krishna cannot survive without her.
Hence, Lord Vishnu idol has been a prominent figure in Hinduism because of his unique nature and reincarnations. People continue to worship him even today since he is pleased easily with his devotees' prayers and grants good health, happiness, and prosperity.
